Our location

The Duca sits at an elevation of 2098 meters or 6,880 feet, on the south-east side of the Tofana mountains, in a marvelously scenic location. The view from the lodge is incomparable. From it’s magnificent perch you can see the entire valley, which is surrounded by some of the most spectacular peaks in the Dolomites – Antelao, an almost perfect pyramid; the wild Sorapis; Cristallo; and looking north lies the massive Croda Rossa.

How to get there

To reach the refuge there are various access routes and they also vary according to the season, winter or summer.

In the winter the Duca is easily accessible with a series of connecting ski lifts right from town. Or with a 10 minute car ride you can reach the parking lot at the base of seggiovia Pie’ Tofana and this chairlift will take you right up to the lodge.
During the winter, this lift is accessible to skiers as well as to non-skiing guests coming up to the rifugio.
The way is well marked and the lodge is well know, so you won’t get lost.

Refuge Duca d'Aosta

We are here!

In the summer you can still use the lifts from town, but will need to walk part of the way that you would just ski in the winter.

You can also travel directly by car. Just follow S.S 48 of the Dolomites and take the road in the direction to Passo Falzarego. On your right you will pass the B&B “Locanda del Cantoniere” and a charming chapel in Vervei. A couple of hundred meters further you will find on your right a road with directions to Rifugio Dibona and Rifugio Duca d’Aosta. You will drive the first 3.6 Km/2.1 miles on a paved road.

Then at the following junction, take a right and follow the dirt road for another 1Km all the way to the Duca. If your car doesn’t have high clearance, it is more advisable to park in the big open space (calling it a “parking lot” is a stretch) just before the road becomes a bit steeper. From the “parking lot”, it is a 5 minute walk to your final destination.

Last but not least, you can follow one of the many well marked trails and hike to the lodge from many different locations in town.
There are trails for all levels of hiking ability – just choose your perfect match based on strength and stamina. Walking through the woods and on the mountain slopes you will be rewarded with amazing views of our valley.
